G2One QuickCast Site Launched! Wednesday, July 30, 2008

G2One have launched the G2One QuickCast site. A G2One QuickCast is fast and furious little movie demonstrating something interesting about the Groovy language and/or the Grails framework.

The first movie available there demonstrates how powerful tools like Grails and Git can work together to support a really really agile development process. Watch this movie and try to do something like this with your web framework and your VCS. If you can't, your tools are not flexible enough. :)

Enjoy!

Nice. When's Grails moving to Git? ;-)

Unfortunately, seems like there are no intentions to move to Git. This is the sense I get from Grails devs (Graeme is saying that tools support is not there and codehaus does not support Git, etc.)

Dmitriy,

We never said that we aren't going to move to Git. That may very well happen. One of the issues being worked on is integration with all of the other tools we use (FishEye, Jira, etc...). All of that stuff has to be worked out.

We may very well end up migrating the main repo to Git or some other DVCS at some point. We are not going to jump on that right away without a full solution story in place though. If we did, what we gain with Git we would probably lose in other areas.

In the meantime, I use Git locally for everything, including the work I do on Grails and other SVN based projects. "git svn clone" is my friend. :) That doesn't buy me all of the benefits Git has to offer, but it does buy me a lot.
